Position
Summary:
The Lead Medical Assistant will have personal interest and/or experience in a clinical setting and will perform clinical and administrative tasks for both Pediatric and Adult patients under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.
All administrative functions will be evaluated by the Health Center Manager.
The Lead Medical Assistant will be evaluated by the Health Center Manager in collaboration with the supervising physician(s) for their respective clinics.
As a member of the health center's integrated care team the Lead Medical Assistant will fulfill the following KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES towards the provision of patient centered, coordinated patient care:
Measuring and recording vital signsRecording patient interview, history, and chief complaintUpload external records and / or preload immunizationsPreparing patients for examination and performing routine screening testsPhlebotomy and collection of other lab specimensAdhering to common safety hazards and precautionsPerforming EKGsSkill in developing and maintaining clinical quality assuranceSkill in developing and resolving problemsCommunication skills using appropriate medical terminologyAbility to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situationsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the publicPerform outreach calls to patients and / or specialty offices as requestedPerform Pre-Visit Planning for targeted quality measuresChecking electronic outbox of providers and address urgent issuesCompleting EHR data entryFollowing up on patient care as requestedAssist in ordering and maintaining clinical and office supplies and equipmentAssist in the solutions of problems as directed by the Health Center ManagerOther duties as assignedRequired SkillsOR ABILITIES:
Perform sterile proceduresPerform cleaning specifications of various medical equipment, fixtures, utensils and related materials.
Prepare and administer vaccines Properly distribute inventoryMaintain supplies, equipment and /or maintain quality control standards.
Safely utilizes cleaning solvents and related products.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environmentData entry skillsAbility to maintain quality, safety, and / or infection control standards.
Knowledge of methods, procedures, and protocols, including federal, state, and local laws for the handling and disposal of hazardous biochemical waste products.
Computer skills a mustPreferred Bilingual in English and Spanish Preferred Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experienceThree (3) or more years of Medical Assistant experienceMinimum
Qualifications:
Must have High school diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed and graduated from a medical assistant program with a minimum of five years of experience as a medical assistant Must have skills, ability, and temperament to train new employees Must have demonstrated leadership abilities.
Performs standard tasks associated with patient care with minimal oversight from supervisor.
Receipt of high-level ratings on the past 3 performance evaluations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and /or loud noises.
May be required to stand and /or walk for more than eight (8) hours per day.
May be asked to lift to or about 25 poundsWork environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
The employee will be working within a controlled enclosed environment daily.
They will be required to wear scrubs and occasionally protective barrier clothing during training.
This can become uncomfortable in a warm, high humidity room.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
