Director of International Admissions

Working under the direction of the President, the Director of International Admissions performs a variety of administrative and professional duties in the recruitment and retention the school's international student body.
The Director runs the international student program in a manner that is mindful of the standards recommended by The American International Resource Council (AIRC) and compliant with the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET).
The position involves international travel.
In addition to recruitment and retention of students, the Director takes a leading role in working with colleagues to strengthen the school's commitment to international-mindedness and the principles of diversity, inclusion, equity and justice.
Though not a requirement for the position, fluency in Chinese language is a distinct advantage.

To assist international students in gaining:
familiarity with American culture; advanced proficiency in English; and admission to American colleges and universities.
To position the school as a participant in the global economy and expand its reputation internationally.
To provide domestic OLGCHS students with experiences that expand their horizons and worldviews.
To enhance the financial stability of the school.
Desired Background, Skills and Qualifications Knowledge and understanding of the mission, organization, goals, objectives, and policies of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School Bachelor's degree Strong interpersonal skills, especially in relating to international students Strong communication and management skills Proven ability to manage a budget Experience in the high school classroom Ability to work a flexible schedule to include occasional evening and weekend assignments Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Proficiency in applications that facilitate global communication (Skype, WeChat, etc.
) Satisfactory criminal background check Ability to speak Chinese is a plus Readiness, willingness, and ability to travel abroad at least twice a year to build and sustain relationships with agencies, partner schools, and international student families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
1) Serves as School's liaison to recruiting companies, homestay agencies and other international organizations that provide access to prospective international students.
2) At the direction of the President, travels overseas to:
conduct in-person interviews with prospective students; attend training with recruiting agencies; make presentations to international organizations, including schools; and meet with Good Counsel parents and alumni.
In a typical year, the Director would make at least two trips overseas.
3) With the support of agency partners, maintains high standards for admission, conducting a careful screening and interview process with standards that are consistent with those used for all students applying for admission to OLGCHS.
Requires appropriate scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and/or the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test).
Additionally, makes a determination of each student's readiness to learn, personal interests, maturity, and suitability for the OLGCHS community.
4) Supervises the work of the International Student Life Coordinator.
5) In support of the work of the International Student Life Coordinator is part of a communication structure with the Principal's Administrative team, the Admissions Office, the Registrar, the Business Office, the Athletic Office, the Counseling Department in order to best support the integration of international students into the Good Counsel community.
6) Serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) in the Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) for issuance of international student visas and assists students, as needed, with complying with government regulations concerning immigration status, visas, passports, and related matters.
7) Communicates information relevant to the International Student program through publications including the website, social media, and other outlets.
Monitors school's International Student Program webpage for current and accurate information, and provides updates as needed.
8) Collaborates with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Coordinator in establishing programs and services that enhance global mindedness among all students.
9) Serves as liaison to Student Support Team, as needed, to aid in the School's response in case of emergency involving international students.
10) Keeps abreast of developments in international education, including:
immigration legislation, interpretation and practice; trends in international student programs, study abroad administration, management, and evaluation, through bulletins and other written resources, webinars, site visits, and conference attendance.
11) Is responsible for the matriculation process and documentation.
12) In conjunction with the International Student Life Coordinator, meets individually, as needed, with international students to augment advising being provided by their guidance/college counselor and assists Counseling Department in the development of international students' plans for graduation and college.
13) Manages the Global Scholars Program.
14) Supervises the organization and sharing of best practices for international student travel.
15) Attends school-wide marketing events such as Open House to promote international opportunities at OLGCHS.
16) Performs other duties as assigned by the President.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
