GED in Spanish - Math Instructor We are in search of a GED in Spanish Math Instructor who supports the schools mission by preparing our adult immigrant students to become productive and civically engaged residents of Washington, DC. The GED in Spanish Math instructor provides excellent instruction that supports students diverse educational backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities in all levels of Math in Spanish. The incumbent organizes instruction and teaching to prepare students to pass the official GED Math in the Spanish language. The responsibilities of the position include selecting quality materials, effective strategies, designing a class syllabus, and writing daily lesson plans to address all student needs directly. The instructor is expected to engage with multiple formal and informal data forms to make informed decisions that support students achievement in completing their high school diploma. Additionally, the role of the GED in Spanish Math Instructor requires the management of key data points. Student tracking forms, daily attendance, student scores, and timecards are examples of administrative responsibilities that extend beyond the time spent teaching in the classroom.
Responsibilities:
Provide classroom instruction in Spanish and group participation activities to teach all levels of math, including high school level math as required for the GED exam. Support students in groups and individually with effective teaching and learning strategies to ensure passing success of the Math in Spanish test. Utilize technology, including the Student Information System, Spark300, Google Drive, interactive boards, and other web-based applications to deliver the curriculum. Perform administrative duties including taking daily attendance, monitoring students assessment formal and informal, pre/post-tests, attending faculty meetings, and other administrative duties required of all faculty. Develop mastery of best practices, effective strategies, materials, and subject matter through research, data analysis, and professional development training. Work as a member of the GED in Spanish team and actively collaborate with each member of the team to monitor students progress and ensure student success. Engage and play an active role in helping students persist toward their goals by closely monitoring students' attendance and performance, addressing issues appropriately, and following proper procedures in tutoring, homework, etc. Other related duties assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Math and experience teaching Math for GED in Spanish. Two to three years of experience teaching adult learners and knowledge of best practices and strategies in teaching adult students in a GED in Spanish program. Must be fluent in Spanish, able to read, write, teach, and understand the requirements to take and pass the GED in Spanish official test. Demonstrate self-motivation, continual learning, and taking initiative to support students and team members. Practice professional and practical interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work independently or with others in a team approach. Must be flexible and able to make adaptations to meet the academic needs of students with different learning skills and challenges. Work comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds Excellent communication skills, be able to explain concepts to others effectively. Excellent organizational skills and timely completion of tasks Knowledge and experience using Windows, and Microsoft Applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge and experience using online teaching platforms such as interactive boards, Google Drive, and other web-based applications.
